🪽 WHY YOU NEED TO START DOING SCAPULAR PULL UPS 🪽 Share this post 👍 👀 The scapula or shoulder blade is a flat triangle shaped bone located on our upper back behind our shoulders. There are different muscles anchored to the scapula and it connects the clavicle to the humerus. 🤔 The function of the scapula allows for full upper extremity movement including protraction, retraction, elevation, depression, upward rotation, and downward rotation. It's important to learn how to move your scapula! 💪 Scapular pull ups use a smaller range of motion than a regular pull up to activate your shoulders and back muscles. When performed properly, scapular pull ups lead to increased upper body strength. 🦾 To perform a scapular pull up, start in a dead hang position with your elbows slightly bent. Perform a reverse shrug to squeeze your shoulder blades together and slightly lift your body upwards. Hold at the top position before you lower back to the start position. Complete 2-3 sets of 5-10 reps. This is a great exercise if you want to practice engaging the right muscles for any pulling exercises. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ✨Grip the bar with your hands shoulder width apart. ✨Squeeze your legs, glutes, and tuck your tailbone to form a hollow hold. ✨Engage lats by pulling down on the bar and draw the shoulders downward, forcing the chest up. ✨Hold at the top for a few seconds, then continue this movement 6-12 reps 2-3 sets. I do it when I’m injured and when I’m at my best. This one is a must in your arsenal 🔥 1️⃣ Start from a dead hang. 2️⃣ Pull yourself backwards while keeping your elbows fully locked. 3️⃣ Pull yourself gradually (no sharp movements)and hold the top for 3 seconds. 4️⃣ Arch as deep as possible and bring your shoulder blades together at the top.
