The uncomfortable truth about your handstand… 📉 It’s not the hold that’s the problem. It’s the entry. Most people could hold a solid line if someone placed them there manually. But getting there? That’s where the chaos happens. Here is the breakdown 👇 ❌ Momentum Mounts (Kick-ups, jumps) Accessible, but they have a built-in «blind spot.» A split-second where you are just hoping you land in balance. They will never be 100% consistent. ✅ Press Mounts (Straddle, Pike, Bent-arm) Pure control. No guesswork. When trained properly, these are 100% consistent. WHICH LEVEL ARE YOU? 👶 Beginner: Forget freestanding mounts. Get strong at the wall. Build time under tension. Once you can exist confidently upside down, start learning the tuck-up. 🤸‍♂️ Intermediate: Consistency is king. If you’re only sticking 2 out of 5 entries, you’re wasting energy. Dial in your tuck-up and begin serious work on your press. 🦍 Advanced: The entry is an afterthought. Press to Handstand is the standard. Your real training begins after you’re already upside down. Stop leaving your sets to chance. Master the entry. 📌 Save this to remember your progression steps.

Maintaining strong and mobile wrists is essential for safe and consistent handstand practice. These five exercises are designed to improve mobility, stability, and endurance. Perform them before and after training to prepare your joints and support long-term wrist health. Stick Mobility – Use a stick to enhance range of motion and activate the forearms. Perform 10 hammer movements, followed by 10 inward and 10 outward rotations to warm up the wrists and improve control. Wall Flexion – Place your palms on the wall with your fingers pointing down. Gently press toward the wall, creating tension through the fingers. Repeat for 10 controlled reps to increase flexibility and strength. Yoga Block Stretch – Place your hands on a yoga block and lean forward slightly to extend your wrists and fingers. This stretch helps reduce stiffness, improve mobility, and release accumulated tension. Forearm Activation – Apply light pressure through your hands and rotate the forearms in supination and pronation. Turn your hands upside down for an additional stretch to maintain balanced strength and mobility. Wrist Rolls – Interlock your fingers and perform slow circular motions to release tension and increase circulation, promoting recovery after training. Stuck to the wall? Try these drills ⬇️ If you keep kicking up against the wall, trying to hold yourself up but just can’t get away, it’s probably not a strength issue — it’s a control issue. (Especially if you can hold a wall handstand for 20+ seconds) Most people don’t actually use the wall for assistance — they lean on it, which makes them dependent on it for balance. Here are a few drills that helped me build control and finally move away from the wall 👇 1️⃣ Box Pike Hold — focus on alignment & shoulder strength 2️⃣ Scapula Shrugs (on box) — train scapula protraction; think “shoulders toward ears” 3️⃣ Box Kick-Ups — build control while kicking up; try to float in an L-shape and, if possible, close your legs 4️⃣ Chest-to-Wall Leg Switches — great for improving alignment and balance; harder than back-to-wall, but less likely to cause a banana shape --> Remember: the closer you are to the wall, the harder it gets!
