Not sponsored. —— DISCLAIMER ‼️ This video was made with the intention of sharing what I am currently doing and the brands I trust. It’s not a recommendation video suggesting what you should do. Please check with your healthcare professional before taking any supplements. —— I like to divide supplements into three different parts: 1. Necessary supplements based on your deficiencies Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D (Get blood work done every few months if you’re supplementing them regularly.) If you don’t get daily sunlight and don’t consume dairy or other sources of B12, then both of can be useful for you. 2. Based on my lifestyle I call these optional because there is no simple way to test for optimal levels it depends on your lifestyle and eating habits. I know I don’t get enough omega-3 through food, so I take a supplement for that. Magnesium helps me relax, sleep better, and recover and I truly feel that difference. 3. Protein supplements 1 scoop of protein daily, since vegan sources are limited, and a protein bar for busy days when I barely have any time. This breakdown is meant to help you analyse your requirements based on your individual health and lifestyle. #health #lifestyle

One of the main arguments for a high protein diet and supplementing with protein is that it can be useful for weight loss. This comes from science that shows that when you have a high protein meal, your body releases more satiety signals to your brain to say that you're full up. This is absolutely true but we also have to remember that the same thing happens when you eat a high fibre meal just with a different mechanism. When you eat a high protein meal you get a message from your small intestine to the brain to say that you've received enough amino acids in this meal. For fibre, it's lower down in the gut, in the large colon. When we have a high fibre meal, our gut brain axis (the vagus nerve) tells our brain that we have plenty of fibre to work with and that our gut microbes are happy. So if you're trying to lose weight and you've been recommended a really high protein intake, please avoid taking protein supplements. Focus more on having foods that are both high in protein and high in fibre and they will definitely reduce your hunger. More beans, more legumes, more wholegrains and, if you want it, some lean meat, oily fish and eggs - but not over emphasising or taking additional protein supplements that won't be helpful in the long term. #ProteinIntake #ProteinForWeightLoss #WeightLossNutrition #HighProtein #ProteinSupplements #ProteinSupplementation #WeightLoss #Nutritionist #HighFibre

A lot of people are about to embark on a fitness journey. Two of the main things that will greatly help you achieve your goals are easier than you think. 1- drink enough water 2- eat enough protein. Your protein goal is roughly one gram per pound of bodyweight. That can be hard to do for people with whole food alone. This is where protein supplements shine. A recent meta-analysis looked at animal vs. plant protein for muscle mass, strength, and performance—and the results might surprise you!👀 ➡️Animal protein had a slight edge for building muscle in younger adults, but only when paired with resistance training (RT). ➡️In older adults, there was no advantage to animal protein over plant protein. ➡️When plant protein came specifically from soy, it was equally effective as animal protein for maintaining or building muscle, regardless of age or whether RT was involved. ➡️No real difference between protein types if you’re not strength training, no matter your age. Most of the studies focused on soy and milk proteins but there’s a major research gap when it comes to other commonly consumed plant protein sources like pea, rice, hemp, etc. that are used as protein sources in plant based protein supplements.  If you’re consuming enough high-quality plant protein (especially from soy such as tofu, tempeh, edamame) and are engaging in regular resistance training, you don’t HAVE to eat animal protein to build muscle. If you’re not incorporating any animal protein in your diet and want to see improvements to your overall health and performance, head to the link in my bio to contact us for nutrition coaching. Your kidneys work 24/7 to filter waste, balance fluids, regulate electrolytes, and help control blood pressure. When supplements are taken unnecessarily, in very high doses, or without proper guidance, they can sometimes put extra strain on the body, including the kidneys. Certain supplements deserve extra caution, especially when taken in excess, for long periods, or without testing. These may include: • Very high protein intake or excessive protein supplementation, especially in people who already have kidney disease • Excess vitamin D, which can raise calcium levels and may lead to kidney stones or even kidney injury in severe cases • Unregulated herbal supplements, because some may contain harmful compounds, contaminants, or ingredients that are not clearly listed • High-dose vitamin C, which may increase the risk of kidney stones in some people • Creatine in people with kidney disease, unclear kidney status, or without proper monitoring The key issue is not supplementation itself. The real problem is self-prescribing, overdosing, using poor-quality products, and assuming natural always means safe. It is also important to be accurate: creatine and protein supplements are not proven to damage kidneys in healthy people when used appropriately, but they may be a concern in those with existing kidney problems or when intake is excessive. If you take supplements regularly, especially for fitness, immunity, or long-term health goals, it is smart to review them with a qualified doctor. In some cases, kidney monitoring may include serum creatinine, eGFR, and urine testing. Protecting your kidneys starts with being informed, not afraid. Before starting or stopping any supplement, consult a qualified doctor.
