👻 What is active recall and how do you use it? 🍳 Active recall: a method that actively helps you recall information by provoking your memories Use active recall with 3 steps: 1. Go to class and take notes 📝 Take active notes by listening actively to your professors and pay attention to the important key points not what was on the slides 2. Formulate questions through your notes 3. Revise, revise and revise: what you learned isn’t going to stick after one try. Revise daily to help you remember concepts better and solve problems faster. Here you can combine active recall and spaced repetition effectively by following these steps: 1. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 What it is: Testing yourself on the material without looking at your notes or books. This helps strengthen your memory. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭: Use flashcards (physical or apps like Anki/Quizlet) with questions on one side and answers on the other. Close your book and summarize what you just read or learned. Ask yourself questions like, “What is the main idea? Can I explain it without help?” Solve practice questions or create mock test scenarios. 2. 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 What it is: Revisiting the same material at intervals to combat the forgetting curve. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭: After learning something, review it: Day 1: Right after studying. Day 2: The next day. Day 4: After 2-3 days. Day 7: After a week. Every few weeks: For long-term retention. Apps like Anki automatically space your reviews based on your memory of the material. 3. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝗵 Create flashcards or a list of questions for everything you study. Test yourself regularly (active recall) using the spaced intervals. If you get something wrong during recall, review the material immediately and adjust the interval for that topic. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: You study a Biology chapter today. After finishing, close the book and test yourself on key points (active recall). The next day, test yourself again. If you struggle, review the material and repeat. By Day 4, test again. Over time, increase the gaps between reviews, as you’ll retain the material longer. This method ensures you not only understand but remember what you study for exams. . . . . #study #studytips #studyhacks #exam #examtips #examhacks #studymethods #studysmart #studyeffectively #studystrategy #studystrategy101 #activerecall #spacedrepetition #student #studentadvice #highschool #college #uni #fyp #explore

🏛️ The Active Recall Method: Retrieve to Retain Your brain isn't a storage unit; it’s a search engine. 🧠🔍 Most people fail because they "Reread." They scan the same page five times, get a "feel" for the words, and mistake that familiarity for knowledge. That’s a trap. If you want to actually master a subject, use Active Recall: 1️⃣ Read: Go through the material once to understand the concept. 2️⃣ Close: Shut the book. Remove the safety net. 3️⃣ Retrieve: Take a blank paper and write down everything you remember. Force your brain to reconstruct the data from scratch. 4️⃣ The Gap: Open the book and see what you forgot. That "pain" of forgetting is exactly where the memory gets locked in. Memory is not what you can read; it’s what you can retrieve under pressure. #RajShamani #ActiveRecall #StudyHacks #MemoryMastery LearningSystems BrainPower SuccessMindset DeepWork Active Recall Step-by-Step, How to Use Blank Page Retrieval, The Science of Memory Retention. This technique can be used to teach recall, build recall drive, and to challenge your dog’s existing recall! The leash is the most important part. Use a long line or flexi lead to ensure that eventually you can stop your dog from getting the food on the ground. **Not every time you recall your dog, will they be able to go back to the distraction. For example, if you recall your dog from chasing a squirrel across the road, you’re probably not going to then release them to chase it after the recall. That’s why I mention, most of the time, don’t allow them to go get the food after recalling. Hold the long line close or tether your dog while you remove the food between reps. If you have the space, leave the distraction down and just ensure they don’t get it on the next rep. SOMETIMES you may release them to go back though (recalling your dog off playing with another dog, then allowing them to go back to playing, etc.). So, sometimes you can let your dog get the distraction - just ensure it’s only after a release word. Comment any questions if any of this sounds confusing to you! Most owners only practise by calling their dog and rewarding them—but that’s not enough when squirrels, smells, and the big wide world are competing for their attention. This game takes something your dog already finds incredibly rewarding - the chase - and uses it to supercharge their desire to come running back to YOU. 🚀 💾 Hit save & play it inside, outside, anywhere… and watch how quickly your dog learns that the BEST fun happens when they choose you! Would your dog ditch food for a recall? 👀👇 #dogtraining #recalltraining #positivedogtraining #dogtrainersofinstagram #recallgames
