Five things I never did during my student years… and why this saved me years of valuable energy 1️⃣ I never skipped exercise. Exercise is essential. It improves focus, reduces stress, and enhances memory; it’s scientifically proven to be one of the best learning methods. 2️⃣ I never reread my summaries/lectures/notes repeatedly. Rereading is passive, and while it feels efficient, it’s not. Instead, I used active recall, constantly testing myself until I could explain concepts without notes. Research shows that 84% of students use rereading as their primary study method, but it’s proven to be the least effective and efficient (meaning more time spent for worse results). 3️⃣ I never read entire books. Professors rarely test you on every single page of a book. I focused on the 20% of key content that yields 80% of the learning results (Pareto principle). That’s efficient learning. 4️⃣ I never took notes in class. I realized that dividing my attention between writing and listening was a trap. I actively participated in class discussions, asked questions, and then used effective learning tools like Oreate AI to organize my notes afterward. My favorite part of this tool is the deep research feature, which can deeply read and analyze all my learning materials, helping me summarize and synthesize information. Most importantly, it supports multiple languages! Not only English, finally there is a study tool for students of minority languages! The learning notes organized by Oreate AI can also be smart-edited, polished, rewritten, and de-AI-fied. I only regret not discovering this tool sooner. 👉 These choices helped me overcome procrastination, manage my time, and ultimately achieve excellent grades without sacrificing my health or social life. If you’ve read this far, then this article is for you. Comment “Oreate” if you need help to improve your grades. #study #school #uni #student

👻 What is active recall and how do you use it? 🍳 Active recall: a method that actively helps you recall information by provoking your memories Use active recall with 3 steps: 1. Go to class and take notes 📝 Take active notes by listening actively to your professors and pay attention to the important key points not what was on the slides 2. Formulate questions through your notes 3. Revise, revise and revise: what you learned isn’t going to stick after one try. Revise daily to help you remember concepts better and solve problems faster. If you’ve been staring at your notes and nothing sticks… try these 5 gentle, structured methods. Perfect for students who want fast clarity without stress. ⸻ 1. Kaidan Hōshiki — The Stair-Step Method 🪜 Don’t attack the whole chapter. Break it down. One tiny section → understand → move on. Just like climbing stairs, your brain absorbs faster when the load is lighter. 2. Active Recall — The “Close the Book” Trick 📕➡️🧠 Read → close your book → say what you remember out loud. Your brain learns by pulling information out, not just putting it in. 3. Visualization & Mnemonics 🎨🧩 Turn the boring parts into pictures, symbols, or short stories. Your brain LOVES images — give it something fun to remember. 4. Ondoku — Reading Aloud with Rhythm 🎤🔁 Read your key points out loud with rhythm or tone. It feels silly, but your auditory memory will lock it in instantly. 5. Jiko Setsumei — Teach It Back 👩🏻‍🏫✨ Pretend you’re teaching it to someone. When you can explain it simply, you’ve truly mastered it. ⸻ 15-Minute Japanese Memorization Flow ⏱️🇯🇵 0:00–3:00 Kaidan Hōshiki — break into steps 🪜 3:00–6:00 Visualize & create mnemonics 🎨 6:00–9:00 Active recall (no peeking!) 📕 9:00–12:00 Ondoku — read with rhythm 🎤 12:00–15:00 Jiko Setsumei — teach it back 👩🏻‍🏫 ⸻ If you repeat this for a week, you’ll feel your brain becoming lighter, sharper, and more confident ✨🧠💛 Follow @huiqiennnn for more soft, smart, aesthetic study tips ♡ #study #memorize #japanese #studygram #winterarc #university #fyp #explorepage #notes #methods

STOP SCROLLING. 🛑 This is how I went from burnout to an academic weapon in 21 days. (Save this for your next exam season!) Let’s be real studying 12 hours a day isn’t a flex if you aren’t actually retaining anything. I was stuck in a loop of “passive learning” highlighting books and feeling tired but I saw literally zero results. So, I decided to reset my entire approach. Here is the exact 21-Day Academic Weapon Schedule I used to flip my grades: Phase 1: The Reset (Days 1–4) 🧹 • Day 1: Digital & Physical Declutter. Clear your desk, delete distracting apps, and list every single deadline. • Day 2: The “Brain Dump.” Write down everything you DON’T know. This is your roadmap. • Day 3: Sleep Sync. Reset your internal clock. No screens 1 hour before bed. 8 hours of sleep is non-negotiable. • Day 4: Schedule Setup. Map out your next 17 days using Time-Blocking. Phase 2: The Input (Days 5–14) 🧠 • Days 5-7: Deep Work. Focus on the 20% of material that will give you 80% of the results (Pareto Principle). • Days 8-10: The Feynman Technique. Explain a concept out loud to a “ghost” or a mirror. If you stumble, go back and re-read. • Days 11-14: Active Recall. Stop reading. Start testing. Use Flashcards or Blurting (writing everything you remember on a blank page). Phase 3: The Output (Days 15–21) 🔥 • Days 15-18: Past Paper Marathon. Do every practice exam you can find under timed conditions. • Days 19-20: Targeted Review. Only study the questions you got wrong in Phase 3. • Day 21: Review high level summaries and get a full night’s rest. NO CRAMMING. The Rule: No more than 4 hours of “Deep Work” a day. Quality > Quantity. 📍Follow @tmnzstudy for more study hacks, aesthetic setups, and daily motivation. ✨

I understood this feeling soooo much during high school, but now as a Harvard student I’m here to tell you everything I know!!! 👇 Every day I talk to students who feel like everyone else has it figured out…. They think other people have better internships, better stats, and better “stories.” But after helping thousands of applicants get into top colleges, I noticed the students who get in aren’t the busiest but the most intentional. If you feel behind, start here: 1️⃣ The Narrative Method (College Apps) Instead of stacking activities, build around 1–2 core values. Every class, project, leadership role, and essay should reinforce the same identity. When your application feels aligned, admission officers remember it. 2️⃣ The 20/5 Technique (Studying) Most students “study” for 2–3 hours and retain almost nothing. Try this instead: • 20 minutes of deep focus • 5 minutes of active recall (close notes, write everything you remember) • Repeat. It forces your brain to struggle productively, which is what actually builds retention. 3️⃣ The COPA Strategy (SAT/ACT) This stands for Create (Your) Own Precise Answer Step 1: Read the question carefully. Step 2: Cover the answer choices. Step 3: Create your own exact answer in your head or on paper. Step 4: Eliminate choices that don’t match your answer. Step 5: Select the option that precisely aligns. Comment SOPHOMORE and I’ll send you the full checklist on everything you need to do this year to get into your dream schools! #UltimateIvyLeagueGuide #UltimateMentor #UILG

📚 Which kind of student are YOU? ⬇️ F STUDENTS encounter a tough topic and completely shut down. They treat confusion as confirmation they’re not smart enough and never push through to the breakthrough moment. B+ STUDENTS push through difficulty by studying for hours with traditional note-taking and passive review. Dedicated but inefficient methods keep them just short of exceptional. A+ STUDENTS push through difficulty AND weaponize it using active recall, Feynman technique, and gamification that turns confusion into permanent mastery. Every struggle becomes a self-testing opportunity that builds knowledge nobody can take away. Stop putting in maximum effort for minimum results and start studying like the top performers who make excellence look effortless.

5 things I never did (As a Straight-A Student). Most people think top students grind harder. But we just avoid the habits that waste time and destroy retention. Here’s what I never did and what I did instead: 1. I NEVER SKIPPED EXERCISE Research shows that exercise increases brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which improves learning capacity and memory. I worked out 3-4 times per week, even during finals. It sharpened my focus. 2. I NEVER REREAD PASSIVELY 84% of students do this, but research proves it’s one of the least effective study methods. Instead, I used active recall, by closing my notes and forcing recalling the information from memory. This built actual retention. 3. I NEVER READ EVERY TEXTBOOK PAGE Pareto Principle: 20% of study material gives you 80% of exam results. I skimmed to identify high-scoring topics, then did those relentlessly with practice problems. Reading everything equally is inefficient. 4. I NEVER SPLIT ATTENTION BETWEEN WRITING AND LISTENING IN CLASS Trying to write down what the professor is saying word-for-word weakens comprehension and note quality. Instead, I listened fully, then summarized key points in my own words after class. 5. I NEVER SACRIFICED SLEEP FOR CRAMMING Research proves that memory consolidation happens during deep sleep. I got 7-8 hours every night, especially before exams. Cutting down on sleep destroys your brain’s ability to retain information. These choices prevented burnout while maintaining top grades. The best students just eliminate what doesn’t work. Comment “LEARN” for my free study guide where I break down the best study methods you should use instead🚀

📚 Which kind of student are YOU? ⬇️ C STUDENTS give up the second material gets challenging and blame the system for their failures. They avoid difficult concepts and wonder why grades never improve. B+ STUDENTS don’t give up and grind through the struggle by making endless notes and rereading textbooks for hours. They work hard but use inefficient methods that waste precious time. A+ STUDENTS don’t give up AND study strategically using active recall techniques like Feynman method, gamification, and spaced repetition. They force retrieval, explain concepts without notes, and turn learning into an addictive challenge. Stop grinding inefficiently and study like the top performers to transform struggle into straight A’s.

“Why can’t you study… even when you WANT to?” 👇💀 1. Your brain is overstimulated 📱 Short videos Constant scrolling Too much dopamine Now books feel “too slow” for your brain Fix Stop consuming fast content right before studying Your focus needs silence to recover 2. You make studying look too big “Complete entire syllabus” “Study 10 hours” Your brain gets overwhelmed before starting Fix Shrink the task Tell yourself “Just 2 pages” “Just 1 question” Start tiny 3. You sit with zero clarity You open books and stare at everything together Fix Study with one exact target Specific tasks reduce mental resistance ✔️ 4. You’re mentally tired not physically lazy Too much stress Too much pressure Too much guilt Your brain is exhausted Fix Stop trying to study in panic mode Take 15–20 mins to reset before sitting 5. Your study sessions have no structure So your brain keeps looking for escape Fix Use fixed sessions 50 mins study 10 mins break Repeat 🔁 6. You keep waiting for motivation That “study mood” is not coming magically Fix Start before you feel ready Focus comes after starting not before 🔥 7. You made your phone your comfort place So every difficult moment = instant checking Fix Make phone inaccessible during sessions Out of sight = less temptation 📵 8. You don’t know HOW to study So studying feels frustrating Fix Stop passive reading Use active recall Write solve teach yourself ✍️ 9. You think one bad day ruined everything So instead of restarting… you keep delaying Fix Restart ugly Even 20 mins counts Momentum matters more than perfection 10. Deep truth 💥 You don’t hate studying You hate the discomfort that comes with focusing And the only way to fix that… is to stop escaping every time it feels hard 🔥 . #study #studytips #studyhacks #productivity #howto

💡 When things get HARD, which student are YOU? ⬇️ MOTIVATED STUDENTS encounter difficulty and their enthusiasm vanishes. They study only when inspired, abandon tough concepts when energy drops, and get frustrated by unpredictable performance. DISCIPLINED STUDENTS refuse to quit and push through difficulty by maintaining strict daily routines no matter what. The dedication is admirable but relying on brute force alone leaves potential untapped. MOTIVATED + DISCIPLINED STUDENTS refuse to quit AND merge unwavering consistency with active recall, Feynman technique, and gamification that converts obstacles into ironclad knowledge. While motivated students need perfect moods and disciplined students just power through, motivated + disciplined students execute daily with intelligent strategies that demand retrieval, teach without notes, and transform every struggle into compounding mastery. Stop settling for motivation without structure or discipline without strategy and start becoming the complete student who combines relentless habits with elite techniques.
