🖐️ Why some people’s fingers and joints become misshapen over time. You see this a lot in older generations, especially in Asia. Fingers that bend inward. Knuckles that grow large and uneven. Hands that no longer look straight. In TCM, this isn’t random. Many of these people spent years with their hands constantly in water — washing dishes, working on farms, washing hair in salons, working without gloves. Water isn’t the problem. Moisture that penetrates the body is. When hands are exposed to dampness over and over again, that moisture slowly enters the joints. Year after year, it accumulates, blocking blood flow. When blood can’t reach the joints properly, the joints weaken… then stiffen… then slowly change shape. This is how dampness turns into chronic joint damage over time. To improve it, the body needs help on two levels: 🌿 Herbs to clear the trapped dampness and restore circulation 🤲 Gentle massage and movement to guide blood back into the joints When blood returns, the joints soften. And even long-standing changes can begin to improve. #SilkieHerbs #Dampness #JointHealth #TCMWisdom #ChineseMedicine HolisticLiving BloodFlow ArthritisSupport

👨‍⚕️Master Wu here — 30+ years in TCM massage. Thick tongue coating? 🚨Morning puffiness? Could be too much dampness! 👉🏻Follow for more TCM tips! TCM teaches you how to quickly eliminate dampness Make a fist with your left hand, wrapping your four fingers around your thumb. Use oil to help the tool glide. Find the dip in the middle of your elbow crease — that‘s Chize. Then locate the center of your wrist crease — that’s Daling. Scrape from Chize down to Daling until you feel soreness. Do 30 strokes. Flip your wrist over. Scrape from Quchi toward the back of your hand. Another 30 strokes. Done right, your palm will feel damp and warm. #tcm #chinesemedicineworks #hkwellness #guasha #dampness

Back in the herb aisle at T&T — and today we’re talking about three of my favourites for clearing dampness from the body. 🌾 Shan Zha (dried hawthorn berry), Yi Yi Ren (coix / job’s tears), and mung beans are all amazing for supporting digestion, reducing bloating, and helping the skin when there’s too much internal “damp” — think greasy skin, mucus in the stool, that heavy, sluggish feeling after rich meals, or even mold/fungal imbalances. Together, they gently drain dampness, support the Spleen and Stomach, and help the skin start to clear from within. 🌿✨ If you’ve ever wondered why your skin flares up when your digestion is off — this is the link. In Chinese medicine, it’s always connected. #RootCauseHealing #ChineseMedicine #SkinHealing #BeautyFromWithin #HealingFromWithin #Dampness #TCMHerbs #NaturalSkincare #DigestiveHealth #GlowingSkin

Dampness in the body is a unique concept in Chinese medicine. The closest western equivalent is feeling inflamed, retaining water, and having a sluggish lymphatic system. When you have excess dampness, your limbs feel heavy and achy, you’re bloated, and you feel fuzzyheaded. Earth and water element people are the most likely to experience dampness. The spleen, which is your main digestive organ in Chinese medicine, is especially prone to dampness. And if the kidneys are weak, which are part of the water element, dampness is also more likely to build up in someone’s system. Dampness can also be caused by pathogens stuck in the body which haven’t been resolved yet and suppressive medications. If you’d like a full list of foods to support your spleen to decrease dampness plus a few recipes check out my Taste of the Seasons guides linked in my bio. You’ll want to grab the late summer guide. #chinesemedicine #earthelement #digestion #dampness #lymph #inflammation

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Spleen Qi is the center of transformation in the body. It takes the food and drink you consume and turns them into Qi, Blood, and nourishment for every organ system. Things I wish I knew. The Spleen prefers warmth and rhythm. Cold foods, iced drinks, irregular meals, and eating while stressed weaken its ability to transform food into energy. Over time this can show up as fatigue, bloating, brain fog, loose stools, and fluid retention. The Spleen governs the muscles and the flesh. When Spleen Qi is strong, the body feels supported and stable. When it is weak, people often feel heavy, sluggish, or like their limbs are tired even when they have not done much. The Spleen also governs thought. In #TCM the mind and digestion are deeply connected. Overthinking, rumination, and constant mental work can weaken Spleen #Qi just as much as poor digestion. Many people who worry excessively also struggle with bloating, poor appetite, or unstable blood sugar. The Spleen holds things in place. When its Qi is strong, blood stays in the vessels and organs remain where they belong. When it weakens, there can be bruising easily, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, or organ prolapse. #Dampness forms when the Spleen cannot transform fluids properly. This can look like swelling, puffiness, sinus congestion, excess mucus, weight gain that feels sticky or hard to lose, and a heavy feeling in the body. I wish I knew that strengthening digestion was one of the most powerful things you can do for overall health. Warm meals, cooked foods, consistent eating times, and supporting the digestive fire can restore energy, clarity, and resilience. In TCM, a strong #Spleen is not just about digestion. It is about stability, grounded thinking, and the ability to turn nourishment into life force.

🌿✨ **Understanding Dampness in Traditional Chinese Medicine** ✨🌿 Have you noticed your stool is often loose, sticky, or hard to flush? Or perhaps your tongue appears swollen or puffy? In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), these signs can indicate an excess of dampness in the body. When dampness accumulates, it can hinder the spleen’s ability to transform and transport fluids efficiently. This imbalance may lead to a range of symptoms, including: - Bloating - Fatigue - Heaviness - Weight gain - Brain fog - Excess phlegm - Digestive issues The spleen holds a vital role in digestion and fluid metabolism. When spleen qi weakens, dampness can begin to build up, making it difficult for many—even those eating healthily and hitting the gym—to achieve their weight loss goals. That’s why in our weight loss protocol, we prioritize supporting spleen health and addressing dampness at its root. 🌱✨ It’s all about treating the root cause first for lasting change! Are you ready to explore how TCM can help you achieve better health? Let’s connect! 💚 #TraditionalChineseMedicine #SpleenHealth #Dampness #WeightLossJourney #HolisticHealing HealthTips
