Over-rotating your torso shifts tension away from your lats and onto your obliques and lower back. ✅ Instead, start by protracting your shoulder to fully stretch the lat, then retract as you row. This creates a slight twist at the beginning — just make sure you finish with your torso roughly parallel to the floor and both shoulders even. Let your back do the work — not momentum. Here’s 2 form tweaks to make on single arm dumbbell rows to improve the overall feel of the exercise. 1) stack your wrist and elbow joint of your supporting arm. This will help mitigate joint pain in that non working arm as you increase the weight 2) pivot your foot outwards to help avoid the dumbbell hitting your leg. In order to best bias the lats you’ll have to pull the weight towards your belly button so typically the dumbbell will hit your thigh if you don’t pivot.
