ELDOA #6. Here’s a different take on your traditional static “touch your toes” stretch that most athletic drones are doing. Learn to move with purpose. Here’s what you need to know... . 1. One leg straight, internally rotating from hip (big toe to touch inner knee), other leg slightly bent and relaxed 2. Stay tall rotate using thoracic spine (as much as body will allow) 3. Hands cocked (move as if someone were pulling your hands while attempting to stay tall, find the balance) 4. Tuck chin 5. Breath into belly . I don’t make it a point to “static stretch”. Ironically, through active postures, I’ve found HUGE improvements in my hip mobility and flexibility as a result. There’s still so much to be learned, still so much I’m exploring, but there is something to be said about this ELDOA practice. I’ve found a lot of value in it. I know for most of you this looks strange and I’m assuming most of you know nothing about it. ELDOA. I want to introduce to you guys a new concept. After training, most people sit around and stretch. In my desperate need to question everything, I thought, maybe there’s another way. I was introduced to this concept by Austin Einhorn with @apiros.team who learned the technique from a @freethebaguette type man named Guy Voyer. It’s technical, it’s complex, so here’s what you need to know... . The purpose of ELDOA (among many) is to create space within a joint through the tension of various fascial chains. I go through a serious of these postures after every practice and match. I’m not saying stretching doesn’t have its place nor am I advising you to listen to me, in fact, don’t be that ignorant. Research ELDOA. Research the work done by Guy Voyer. All I’m saying is I’ve had an amazing experience with this practice and I want to share it with you. I’m going to post more postures throughout the week, so let’s start the conversation... more to come. #heretostirthepot . Technical advice 1. hands torqued and cocked back like someone is pulling them into the sky. 2. Hips actively internally rotating 3. Think pull big toe to inner side of knee 4. I’m not asking if ELDOA works, because it clearly does. What I’ve never been able to ascertain is the methodology, the exact thought process, the clinical construct that led the first person to say this position is T10 T11, and not something else. And why does changing my arm from this position to this position shift which joint is being affected, which I do believe happens.
