Fire hydrant exercise- The fire hydrant is an excellent exercise for strengthening your gluteus maximus. How to do it- Start on your hands and knees. Place your shoulders above your hands and your hips above your knees. Tighten your core and look down. Lift your left leg away from your body at a 45-degree angle. Keep your knee at 90 degrees. Lower your leg to starting position to complete 1 rep. Do 3 sets of 10 reps. GLUTE FIRE HYDRANT POINTERS Fire hydrants are a great way to target your: -Gluteus medius, which is located on the side of the hip. ... -Gluteus maximus, which is the largest of the glute muscles -Hip adductors, which bring the leg toward the midline of the body. -Hip abductors, which help move the leg away from the midline of the body. It is one of the exercises I use a lot to target the muscles closest to my ‘hip dip’ to help fill out the area. I’m using a weight but you can also use a resistance band of strap and cable machine. After how much the last pointer video got shared, I definitely think it’s a good idea to keep going with these quick and to the point form videos. Let me know if there’s any specific exercise you want me to do a pointer video for. No need to squeeze the weight, it should hold in place in that position. Fire hydrants can be used as a pre-workout activation exercise to wake up the glutes, reduce cranky hip pain 😢 and help you get MORE out of exercises like squats. I was experiencing hip pain myself last week, did this little trick and it helped 🙏 Now obviously I can't *guarantee* this will help your situation, but it's worth a shot! Test, Assess then Re-test. I recommend using a band for added resistance, and performing about 15 to 20 reps on BOTH sides. Give it a try and let me know if it helps!
