They challenge many of the same qualities required during the sled: ✅ Quad strength and endurance ✅ Core stability under load ✅ Forward driving mechanics through the legs That’s why these variations work so well. 👉🏽They train single-leg strength, control, and sustained leg drive under load. 1️⃣ DB Front Rack Curtsy Lunges Great if you have minimal equipment. Builds leg strength and stability. 2️⃣ DB Front Rack Box Step-Ups Adds elevation to increase quad demand and mimic the driving motion of pushing the sled. 3️⃣ DB Front Rack Box Step-Overs A progressive challenge for continuous movement, leg endurance, and coordination under fatigue. Why the Front Rack? ✔️Forces your core to brace and keeps your torso upright. ✔️This is similar to the posture required when pushing the sled. SLED PULL PRACTICE ✨ The station that is all about technique over strength, yet it is one of if not THE MOST challenging movements to master in a HYROX race. If you’re training for an upcoming HYROX event and your wanting to practice the station but you don’t have accessibility to one at your gym, try this exercise: CABLE ROPE PULL AND SQUAT 🙂‍↔️ Why? ☑️ It can be practiced using single arm or both hands ☑️ Targets grip strength ☑️ Closely mimics the pulling movement pattern and driving feet into the floor as done in the station ☑️ Simultaneously fatigues upper and lower body - translating to race day feels How to perform: • Set up cable rope at the lowest pin on the cable machine • Step as far back as you can whilst gripping the handles closely to your chest • Position feet in squat stance and allow arms to extend on the way down of the squat (slowly), then explode up whilst pulling the handles back towards you and driving feet into the floor Have a practice in your next HYROX strength session and let me know in the comments how you go 😎🔥 - - - - - - - - - - - - #sledpull #hyrox #hyroxtraining #gymtips #hybridathlete

On the way back up, relax the arms and let the machine pull you into the next catch. Efficient recovery = conserved energy over longer efforts. ⚙️ Damper tip Set it 3–5 for repeatable power without burning out early. Drop a comment if you have cues that work for you! And over time, that can lead to: • Low back pain • Hip pain • Pressure or heaviness • Leaking during lifts Proper bracing = 360° core support. Ribs down, diaphragm + deep core + pelvic floor working together (not pushing down into the pelvis). In this front squat, notice: ✔️ Breath expands the ribs and belly ✔️ Pelvic floor stays responsive (not clenched, not pushed) ✔️ Core creates stiffness to protect the spine ✔️ Power comes up and out, not down This matters for: • Heavy lifting • CrossFit & functional training • Postpartum athletes • Anyone with back, hip, or pelvic floor symptoms If lifting causes leaking, pain, or pressure, that’s feedback, not failure.
