It’s time to talk kettlebell swings!! I’m very excited to start sharing more of the conditioning exercises that I use in my programming with you all 🫶 The kettlebell swing can be an intimidating exercise to approach, and if you’ve tried it already kudos to you!! 🙌 Here are some little tips to keep in mind if you’re still not confident in your swing. ⭐️ Your force + energy should be transferring back to front along through the bell in a hinging motion (think pendulum). If you are moving it up and down, you’re likely squatting not hinging. ⭐️ When starting your swing, place the kettlebell a foot in front of you, hinge, grab hold, engage your lats, and pull the bell back through your legs. ⭐️ Aggressively squeeze your glutes to stand and exhale to engage your abs. This helps prevent you from leaving too far back at the top. ⭐️ If your kettlebell is smashing the inside of your thighs, you might not be hinging low enough. Warriors weren’t doing preacher curls, tricep extensions, and crunches on the floor… They were using their core for what it’s actually for. Stabilizing their spine while dynamically wielding awkward, oddly shaped weight. That’s exactly what we’re doing here. This isn’t just arms, shoulders, and core. This is integration. Shoulders and hips working together. Midsection forced to stabilize under rotation. Mobility under load. Upper body endurance and resilience being built in real time. You’re smoothing out the kinks in the kinetic chain while building muscle. This isn’t just for looks. It’s for function. Protocol: 20 halos total (10 each direction) Right into 10 pullovers That’s one round. Complete 5 rounds. Rest as needed. I’m using 16kg. You don’t need to go heavier with movements like this. If you are, you’re not proving anything. Yes, I can go heavier too. The difference is when you stay lighter, you keep more tension on the muscle and rely less on momentum. We go heavy on other movements. Not this one.
