EBI’m not great at mace 360’s but that’s because I don’t practice them. It seems so simple but people have unrealistic standards for themselves after attempting something for the first time.
I don’t expect to be good at something without putting the work in and I don’t expect to be good at everything. This is a conversation I have more and more often with clients and classes.
Instead of hoping that I learn something quickly I rather focus my energy on the process. Slowing things down and mastering the basics. Step by step. I’d rather recognize my privilege to be able bodied to show up to the gym than to compare myself to others. Don’t expect to be good at something after one session, don’t expect things to come easy. As competitive as I am with myself and with others, I put my health first. I want to be able to show up tomorrow and the next day injury free. An injury from ego is just not worth it.
