Leia was very unimpressed by my interruption of her grain chow time. We have been providing goats milk for a local farm @_teambarton to help out some orphaned baby horses 🐴 Not that Leia cares 🙄 But I am loving our @melasty_milking_machines which allows me to milk 5 goats easily in 30 minutes! #goatsmilk #goatsofinstagram #oberhasli #milkgoats #dairygoats #adga #melastymilkingmachines #milkingmachine #milk #goats #farmlife #californiafarming #santaynezvalley #805

What is the difference between RAW milk and regular, pasteurized milk? 🥛 MOST milk is from cows on factory farms, and this milk must be heated to remove harmful bacteria before being sold in grocery stores… The heating process is pasteurization… In contrast, raw milk is often produced on smaller farms, with more attention to quality control… and it is not heated or blended (homogenized) before consumption… 🤙 This means that the cream rises to the top, as you can see in this reel… Though pasteurized milk (whole milk, why would drink anything else?) contains many nutrients including calcium, K2, riboflavin, stearic acid etc… I prefer raw, unpasteurized milk… 💁‍♂️ Here’s why…. There are multiple studies that show that unheated = raw milk consumption in childhood is associated with lower rates on asthma, eczema, and allergies…👍 Remember that these are kids who grow up on OR off farms… Impressive right? I imagine researchers thought this had something to do with probiotic bacteria in the raw milk vs pasteurized milk at first… But further experiments showed that the benefits of raw milk are probably due to the native (unheated) whey proteins in it, which appear beneficial to the immune system… 👏 Turns out that when you heat whey protein above 65C (160F) it changes shape… and quite possibly can then trigger more immune reactions in humans… Many people feel better when they cut out dairy, but I suspect this may be because pasteurized dairy causes issues for many… If this is you, consider raw dairy as a part of your #animalbased diet or organs (either fresh or @heartandsoilsupplements), meat, fruit, honey and raw diary… Welcome to #theremembering 🏹

How much milk does a newborn really need? On the first day of life, your baby’s stomach is only the size of a cherry 🍒 — it holds just 5–7 ml per feed. That’s a teaspoon! So why are new mothers often handed a 3 oz bottle of formula? Because babies naturally lose some weight after birth. This is normal. Most babies will lose up to 7–10% of their birth weight in the first days — and that is expected✅ In some cases, if weight loss is too much or if baby has medical challenges, supplementation can be truly necessary and even lifesaving. But too often, the amounts given are not proportional to what a newborn’s stomach can actually hold❌ ⚠️Oversupplementation can⚠️ • Overstretch your baby’s tiny stomach • Create false expectations of what “enough milk” looks like • Interfere with your body’s natural milk supply • Leave mamas discouraged when their colostrum looks “small” compared to ounces of formula The truth: colostrum is enough. It may look tiny in volume but it is perfectly designed to meet your baby’s needs. 💛 👉Here’s how baby’s milk needs grow👈 • Day 1: 5–7 ml per feed (cherry size 🍒) • Day 3: 15–30 ml per feed (walnut size 🌰) • End of week 1: 30–60 ml per feed (apricot size 🍑) • By 2 weeks: 60–90 ml per feed (egg size 🥚) This slow and steady increase is normal. Your body is designed to keep up✨ And let’s talk about Instagram 👀 — the endless freezer stashes and 10 oz pumping sessions? That’s not the standard and not what babies need. Many of those babies are actually being overfed from bottles, while the mamas who pump just enough are left feeling “less than.” 💡If you’re pumping enough to meet your baby’s daily needs — you are more than enough. ✨Do you want to know how to actually tell if your baby is getting enough? Stay tuned — that’s coming next💕

Pasteurized milk vs real milk⬇️ Did you know this? Pasteurizing degrades B vitamins along with vitamin C. Not only that it denatures necessary proteins and enzymes used for nutrient absorption. Because they are denatured, your body doesn’t know how to process them and what happens….you get sick. When in reality, real milk has all of the necessary elements in it for digestion. Not to say it’s the answer for everyone but it is definitely an answer they don’t want you to know about. I was so scared of real milk for a long time. I remember sitting in my immunology university class and they taught a whole section on real milk and how scary it is LOL. Finally after doing my own research, I discovered real milk is not so scary and I set out to source it. I remember getting my first gallon from a farmer who traveled four hours once a week to drop off in a parking lot! It was exciting. I have never looked back! Now, I have my own Nigerian dwarf goats who are my main source of real milk + surrounding farmers who keep Jersey cows. I prefer goat milk over cow milk though. Real milk is not inherently dangerous, and I’m glad I learned this. Pasteurization is necessary when coming from feed lot cows who are kept in dirty conditions and have rampant disease…. But it is not necessary when the cows are grazing green grass, drinking fresh water, and have their health maintained. Interesting how the system made pasteurization the norm… So many health benefits from real milk they don’t want you to know about… What do you think? #homestesdinglife #homesteadlife

I ordered a milk machine a few weeks ago and it was delivered yesterday. I used it this morning for the first time. It was really easy to set up and use and then clean. It felt like a breeze, honestly. I feel like there's more prep before milking but less at the end than hand milking but that's going to be different for everyone. I didn't really keep track of the time but the actual act of milking each goat was shorter. The time is not the reason I bought it, though, it's my poor hands that are about shot from the past few years of hand milking. I had issues before I started milking, though, so that didn't help. The other reason is because my current set up is just a small part of the barn and it's not very clean--I mean, it's a barn, after all lol--and I hope this will help keep the milk from contamination for cheese making. I haven't had too much trouble with that, though. Anyway, I thought the way the inflations work looked interesting. Don't mind my dog barking, as usual. 🙄 At first, I thought her barking was a squeaky noise. lol And the motor isn't as loud as it might seem in the video, I was just right next to it. . That's Ady in the picture and she was squating because she didn't know what to make of it but she did fine. So did the other goats. There was some kicking but they did really well. I also got about the same amount of milk as I usually do. I wasn't sure if I was going to get less because I'm not used to it or the goats would stress out. So I guess the first time went well. I'll share more about it as I use it more. . #goatmilk #milk #goatmilking #goatcheese #goatlove #milkinggoats #milking #milkmachine #milkingmachine #automaticmilker #cheesemaking #goatsofig #goats #makingcheese #morningchores #farmchores #gotmilk #gotgoatmilk #dairygoats #smallfarm #homesteading #farming #goatvideo #video #farmvideo #farm #farmlifebestlife #farmlife #missourifarm #missouri

Why doesn’t raw milk go bad?🥛🤯 Raw milk sours & ferments… pasteurized milk spoils and goes rotten🤢 Raw milk, still full of enzymes and beneficial bacteria, will naturally ferment into clabber milk (or kefir). And kefir (with all of the incredible probiotics) has been shown in dozens of studies to benefit human health in a variety of ways… Gut support, skin issues, mental health, and many more 💯 When raw milk naturally ferments, it makes the milk more acidic lowering the pH to about 3.5. What’s great about this is that pathogenic bacteria can’t survive (e. Coli, salmonella, etc.), but all the probiotics thrive! Ultimately making the milk not only safer, but so much more health-promoting. This makes fermented raw milk an incredible gut supporting food 🤝🏽

The “experts” will tell you that pasteurization doesn’t change the nutritional value of milk. They claim that heat-treating a living substance until it’s dead has zero impact on how your body utilizes it. It is a convenient lie designed to make industrial processing acceptable to the masses. But observable reality says otherwise. Almost every person who claims to be “lactose intolerant” miraculously has zero issues when the milk is raw and unheated. If the two products were biologically the same, that wouldn’t be possible. Your body is the ultimate laboratory, and its feedback is more accurate than any corporate-funded study. The truth is that pasteurization denatures the proteins and destroys the enzymes needed for digestion. It turns a perfect biological building block into a dead, inflammatory liquid that the body treats as a toxin. One builds solid bone structure and vitality, while the other causes congestion and bloating. Stop falling for the marketing and the labels that the masses use to cope with their malnourishment. When the mainstream narrative contradicts what you can see and feel in your own body, the narrative is the problem. Results don’t lie.
