The Pec Fly Machine - arguably the safest way of performing a pec fly and the kindest on the shoulders... if you do it correctly! Common mistakes include; ❌ Elbow position - too much elbow bend or of course, doing the ‘clappy hand’ ❌ Locking the shoulders. Let the scapula move with the exercise! A little bit of protraction at the squeeze is fine, just make sure you retract into the stretch and don’t shrug as your bring your arms together. ❌ Poor Range of Motion. The whole point of the stretched position of any movement is to get a stretch! Not to stop halfway back because you’ve put too much weight onto the machine. A few helpful cues: ✅ Set the machine up to come across about nipple height. Too high and you’ll be forced to shrug and compromise your shoulders. ✅ Fluid scapula - let it move. Protract into the squeeze, retract into the stretch. ✅ Imagine bringing your biceps together in the middle and then taking them apart, not your fists.

HOW TO PROPERLY DO PEC FLIES❗️ • Many people, in my case, I have seen doing these improperly, or at least in a way that isn’t going to allow for the person to get the most out of the lift… In bending your elbows at the deepest part of the eccentric (the downwards portion of the movement) you will be able to take most-to-all of the tension off of the bicep, and attain a greater stretch on the chest. This deeper stretch of the chest will allow for more muscle fibers to be recruited, which, you guessed it, means you will be getting more gains! A very simple fix to a common form mistake, bend the elbows on the eccentric, and you will be just fine! • #tutorial #pecflies #bodybuilding #gym #fitbysip

If you’re getting bored with the basics and are able to do them with good form, go ahead and play around with small tweaks to make things interesting! 1. Brachialis to biceps curls - targets different muscles in your arm depending on the phase of movement. Also works your wrist extensors and eccentrically loads the biceps 2. Around the world chins - helps progress lock off strength and works the 2nd 1/2 of the chin, but also progresses to one arm a little more 3. Adding the band to ball roll outs works the shoulders a bit more external rotators) 4. Adding the band to the pec fly helps engage the core and works shoulder stability of the other side at the same time. You always want to master the basics first, but once you know the basics and the principles behind them, the options are endless!
