So, what does it take to mount from the ground? A while back, I shared a post on the mobility and strength demands of mounting (cue the controversy over not using a mounting block), and I stand by it—the ABILITY to mount from the ground on BOTH sides isn’t just about safety. It’s also a great screen of your mobility and strength. These videos are here to help you check and improve those areas, though of course, the goal isn’t to mount from the ground every day. We started by screening hip, knee, and ankle mobility. If you struggle with full knee flexion during the screening, a banded knee flexion mobilization may help improve range. But remember, mobility alone isn’t enough—you need to LOAD that range to make it functional. Start with box squats, gradually lowering the box over weeks or months until you can achieve a full-depth squat. Progress might be slow, but meaningful change takes time. Long-standing issues may require weeks, months, or even years of consistent effort. And remember, these exercises are not intended as a “quick fix”. If you’ve struggled with these impairments for a long time, consistent effort is key. Ready to take action?
