Which of these 3 postures are you? Most people try to “sit up straight”… but if you don’t know which posture you’re starting from, you’ll keep getting pulled right back down. There are three common patterns — and each one needs a different fix. 💡 Posture #1: Rounded Upper Back If your upper back slopes forward (like a cup spilling out the front), your mid-back muscles aren’t doing their job. We strengthen the upper back to bring you upright — but that’s not enough. You also need the deep neck flexors working so your head doesn’t drift forward. That’s where the chin tuck comes in. Upper back extension + shoulder blade squeeze + neutral head position = real alignment. 🔥 Posture #2: Over-Arched Lower Back If you’re in the classic “butt out” posture (pelvis tipped forward like a cup spilling in front), your pelvis needs to roll back. The glutes and abs control that motion. Elevated bridge marches train you to hold a neutral spine while your legs move — without letting your lower back arch. Control is everything here. ⚖️ Posture #3: Sway Back Rounded up top, hips shoved forward underneath. Instead of tipping, the whole lower body shifts in front of the upper body. This happens when the glutes aren’t strong enough to hold you upright — so your body compensates by stacking your hips forward. Controlled banded hip hinges teach your glutes to drive your body upright instead of hanging on your ligaments. 🧠 The Big Picture: No exercise will “fix” your posture if you don’t change how you stand during the day. Strength gives you the ability — awareness makes it stick.
