Everyone thinks you need a massive engine like Unity to make 3D games, but the browser is way more powerful than you think. Here is the exact breakdown of how I made this work without any external libraries:
🛠️ The Engine: No heavy physics software here. I built a custom 60FPS game loop using JavaScript’s requestAnimationFrame to handle all the math, speed, and movement in real-time.
🧮 The 3D Illusion: This isn’t actually 3D! I used Pseudo-3D Projection. It takes flat 2D shapes and scales them dynamically on an HTML5 <canvas> based on a virtual camera distance. Your brain does the rest of the work.
🎨 The Vibe: That glowing synthwave aesthetic? Pure CSS styling and precise JavaScript fillRect painting for the sunset, the grid, and the alternating road segments.
🕹️ The Controls: I had to manually code the logic for the acceleration, braking, and the friction that kicks in if you drift off the track.
