Lower Back Pain💪🏻 Don't make the mistake of using too much pressure for your soft tissue work. It's a common mistake. I see a lot of people make and then the experience is simply painful and not that helpful. For lower back pain, check your TFL muscle as it's a commonly dysfunctional muscle. Find the most sensitive area in the muscle, place enough pressure on it that it's tender but not painful, and hold that pressure for between 20-60 seconds until that sensation diminishes by about 50%. Are you just resting and waiting for your back pain to get better? Rest can calm things down. But it almost never fixes the real problem. It might feel better while you are doing less. But the moment you go back to working out, sitting longer, or doing the thing that caused it in the first place, the pain comes right back. That is not because your back is broken. It is because the root cause was never addressed. If you have been told to just rest and give it time, you may be waiting a long time. Pain that keeps returning usually means your body is not prepared for the demands you are placing on it. Real change happens when you figure out why the pain started and improve how your body moves and handles load. Your thoracic spine handles 80% of all trunk rotation. Your lower back? 2 to 3 degrees per segment. It was never designed to rotate. But years of phone. Computer. Driving. Your chest closed. Fascia between your shoulder blades dried out and stuck. Thoracic spine locked down. Your lower back had to pick up the slack. Rotating through ranges it was never built for. Day after day. Year after year. That's not a bad back. That's a back doing someone else's job. A meta-analysis of 31 studies confirmed it. Free the thoracic spine, lower back pain drops. Disability drops. MRI studies showed it directly. Mobilise the chest, lumbar rotation decreases. The compensation stops. It goes deeper. Locked chest compresses your diaphragm. Breathing gets shallow.
