El CMJ es más que una simple prueba de salto; es una herramienta valiosa para mantener un diálogo constante con los atletas y controlar su estado de rendimiento de manera efectiva y considerada 💪. ⁣ ⁣ Debido a la estrecha relación que la disminución en la producción de fuerza tiene con la aparición de indicadores fisiológicos del grado de fatiga, Jiménez y González-Badillo (2011) proponen medir el CMJ como una prueba para conocer el estado de rendimiento de manera no invasiva y efectiva. ⁣ ⁣ Gorostiaga et al. (2010) estudiaron los efectos de 6 sesiones de entrenamiento interválico de sprints de diferentes distancias e intensidades sobre las concentraciones de lactato y amonio y los niveles de salto vertical. Se encontró que el rendimiento del salto vertical disminuye notablemente a partir de un número determinado de repeticiones que estaba asociado a una acumulación de lactato de entre 8-12 mmoV/L y a niveles de amonio mucho más elevados que en reposo.⁣ ⁣ De esta forma, el control del entrenamiento mediante el uso del CMJ informaría con más precisión sobre qué grado de esfuerzo real se está realizando en cada momento, lo que permitiría a los entrenadores una mejor dosificación de la carga propuesta a los deportistas (Jiménez et al, 2013).

⬇️How to perform⬇️ 👉Test your standing CMJ. Then get on a box around the height of your max approach vertical and see if you can match your CMJ jump height. I have about a 40in vertical so I’m using a 42in box here. The point is to get an ECCENTRIC OVERLOAD aka expose the body to higher forces than what you would experience in an approach jump. 👇Here’s how to interpret your results👇 ✅High box depth jump > = CMJ This means you have adequate active muscle stiffness & reactive strength and are efficient at storing and releasing elastic energy. If you’re an athlete who struggles to jump high off an approach (your approach vert is less than 8in vs your CMJ), your inherent elasticity and reactive strength is not the issue, it’s your jump technique and FORCE APPLICATION ability (coordination). You probably won’t benefit from more plyos, you just need more jumps reps! ❌High box depth jump < CMJ Your elasticity and reactive strength is an underlying issue. If you struggle to jump high off an approach, it’s probably due to both your jump technique AND lack of reactive strength in general. You would benefit from a program with a mixture of plyos and approach jump reps to improve both qualities. Wanna jump higher? ⚡️Countermovement Jump (CMJ) with OVR Jump We took the OVR Jump from @ovrperformance for a ride today to test CMJ with the goal of assessing jump height. In order to standardize the approach, we kept the hands on the hips to avoid any advantage that a potential arm swing would provide. CMJ has been a proven, evidence-based assessment to use with athletes in order to get a sense of jump profile via jump height, Rate of Force Development (RFD), and a host of other metrics. The CMJ can also provide insight to: ✅ Concentric force output (Barker et al, 2018) ✅ Stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) efficiency (Vieira et al, 2021) ✅ Potential correlation to sprint speed (Loturco et al, 2018) 🎯Case in point: Test the CMJ with your athletes on a weekly basis to not only capture these performance metrics above, but to also have a wide base of normative data from an injury risk reduction standpoint.
