Resting energy expenditure, thermic effect of food, exercise energy expenditure, and non-exercise activity thermogenesis make up this side. ⁣ ⁣ If you eat more than you burn, you’re in an energy surplus and you will gain weight. ⁣ If you eat roughly the same as you burn, you’re in energy balance, and you will maintain weight. ⁣ If you eat less than you burn, you’re in an energy deficit and you will lose weight. ⁣ ⁣ Thus, it is an imbalance between energy in and energy out that will lead to changes in bodyweight. ⚖️⁣ ⁣ Now, what a lot of people forget is that energy balance is dynamic. It’s not static.
