Stop guessing. Start healing. With Rehab Science you’ll know exactly how to rehab pain and injuries from head to toe. Don’t wait to feel better. Grab Dr. Tom’s book, Rehab Science, today! (available everywhere books are sold) • Dr. Tom Walters, DPT, OCS // @rehabscience ▫️ 💥𝐑𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧💥 —— 📚The rhomboid muscles (rhomboid major and minor) are located between the shoulder blades and the spine and work to retract, inferiorly rotate and elevate the scapulae. 🔎Rhomboid minor is located just above rhomboid major and runs from the spinous processes of C7-T1 to the medial end of the scapular spine. Rhomboid major runs from the spinous processes of T2-5 to the medial scapular border. Both muscles are innervated by the dorsal scapular nerve (C5). 👉The rhomboids are thought to be a common myofascial source of mid-back pain and/or tightness. As such, a bit of targeted soft tissue mobilization work in this area can often greatly help reduce symptoms. 🧠It is also important to note that rhomboid region pain is often related to thoracic spine and rib issues and can even be referred from the neck. So, if your pain continues to return and is only temporary reduced with soft tissue work, make sure to see a practitioner who can assess these other regions for a possible contribution. ✅My book has a mid-back pain program that can help with pain in this area. The program includes self-massage, mobility and strengthening exercises and is broken into three rehab phases. Your knee isn’t stiff…it just hates how you’re bending it 👀 🚨Prone knee flexion with a Mulligan belt Result: ✔️ Less pain ✔️ Smoother motion ✔️ Less guarding 🔹 Why I use it This tends to help when flexion feels: • Blocked or tight in the back of the knee • Compressive or uncomfortable with typical bending • Guarded because of pain ◻️The belt helps guide the joint ◻️The towel makes it more comfortable & creates a gapping force ⭐️It’s not about forcing the knee to bend It’s about making it feel safe to move 🔹 When I use it • Pain with knee flexion (especially posterior) • Early mobility work (when appropriate) • Stiff knees that don’t tolerate hands-on pressure • Patients who guard with traditional PROM 💡 This setup can make a big difference ⚠️ Educational purposes only. Always tailor to the individual. Not medical advice.

🧠When working to improve symptoms associated with sciatica, interventions should have the primary goal of decreasing neural irritation. When neural symptoms improve, pain will decrease and won’t radiate as far down the leg. Además de las intervenciones de ejercicio/movimiento, el trabajo de tejido blando (masaje) en la región del nervio ciático y los músculos circundantes (piriformis) a menudo puede ayudar a aliviar algunas molestias. ✅If you are experiencing low back and/or buttock pain that you think may be associated with irritation of the sciatic nerve and you have a willing partner available, give the technique shown here a try. A bit of moderate pressure in the region of sensitivity can help reduce pain in many people. 👉 WWW.ORBISHEALTH.ES #orbishealth #rehabscience #lacienciadelarehabilitacion

Let me be honest 😕 Read till the ends If I had any idea that masters level courses would add more value to my career I would have taken them. Although my agent told me that you won’t get into a master program at 6.5 overall bands. I stop asking questions and followed what he suggested. To work as a physiotherapist in Canada you don’t need an MPT. However, studying a Master's in healthcare/a master's in rehab science/ or any master's program would have given me university-level experience. I believe that whatever happens, happens for a reason. I am happy where I am and what I am doing. Another important thing is getting your credential process started before coming to Canada 🇨🇦. Do it now Thank me later 🌼

How can you incorporate the science of performance into your healing? How can performance and rehab science help you be more specific in regaining different types of strength as a dancer? A frequent conversation we have with dancers is the difference between peak force and rate of force development. Getting back to training means clearly identifying the factors we need to prioritize. 🧠Peak force is how much *overall force* you can produce. An example might be how long can you hold a certain position. 🧠Rate of force development is how *quickly* you can produce force. An example would be repetitive jumps. 🦵🏼An additional way can further tailor specific training for you implementing velocity based training - how quickly you can move through a range of motion. [Video above!] Depending on where you’re at in your journey, your return to training can look different. You might have peak strength, but need to fill the gaps for quickness. Any @danceprehab healing process is also a learning one., We’re here to make sure you know, feel, and can approach your healing and training with intention for now AND for later. When I learned this about pain, it changed how I program for clients. I used to think pain meant tissue damage. And if there’s damage, we shouldn’t push through it. Sometimes, that’s true. If you tore your achilles playing pickleball yesterday, the pain is from real tissue damage. However, what about pain that stays after the tissue has healed? This is where it gets interesting. After reading books like Explain Pain and Rehab Science, I learned this: Pain comes from the brain, not the tissue. It’s a signal that says, “We’re in danger in this position. Get out now!” The problem starts when the brain sends that signal even when you’re not in danger. That’s when pain becomes a nuisance. It keeps you off the pickleball court. Or away from the ski slopes. Or limits the amount of holes you can play with your buddies. So what do we do? We train around pain, not through it. Step 1- Find pain-free movements. Avoid exercises that aggravate symptoms. If you train through pain (e.g. squatting through knee pain), your brain will increase the intensity and sensitivity of the signal. Step 2- Gradually expand your range of motion. After you find a pain-free exercise, gradually increase the range of motion from week to week. You’re showing your brain that you’re safe. For example, this week, you can squat to 50% depth without your knees hurting. Next week, try squatting to 60%, then 70% and so on. The point is to progress through a pain-free range of motion to show your brain that you’re not in danger. When the brain feels safe, it will stop sending the signal. Just to be clear, I’m not saying pain is “in your head” or it’s fake. It’s real and should be taken seriously. But, there is a way to train pain-free. You just have to find it and progress slowly. And get back to the things you love.

I went to ‘shoulder specialist’ doctors who injected me with cortisone. Physio and physical therapists who gave me pseudoscience manual therapy and ridiculous band exercises. Was load management ever discussed once? Of course not. I had to fix myself by learning the rehab science these people were too lazy or incompetent to keep up to date with. Fck functional training. 🖕🏻You are not fragile. Pick exercises that challenge your shoulder, and progress them with smart load management. 🤘🏻 . . . . . . #shoulderpain #shoulderhealth #shoulderworkout #shoulderworkouts #rotatorcuff #rotatorcuffrehab #shoulderimpingement #physiotherapy #acupuncture #mobility #crossfit #powerlifting #strengthandconditioning #functionaltraining
