Top of foot pain? 🦶🏻 Try this simple strapping for extensor tendinopathy, commonly felt as pain through the tops of the feet on one or both feet. Extensor tendons can flare up from spikes in training, poor shoe fit, uphill and downhill training, and more jumping and landing work than usual. Taping method: 1️⃣ Start with an anchor at the forefoot and just above the ankle joint 2️⃣ Make 3 tensioned straps from the forefoot anchor to ankle anchor. Cover the foot well as shown. The strapping technique works best with kinesiology tape ✔️ You should feel less pain and comfort with the strapping on. The tape can generally stay on for up to 2 days if no reaction is present ☺️ Have a question about pain on the top of your foot? Ask our podiatrists in the comments👇🏻

KT Tape: Extensor Tendonitis Pain on top of your foot. A (another) non-training related injury sustained as I was trying to prevent a neighbour’s dog from attacking mine. One of the dogs may had stepped, hit or I could had hit the top of my foot in the scuffle. This causes pain when I tries to walk, but much less when I run. Facts: Causes of Extensor Tendonitis includes repetitive movements, bad fitting shoe, too tight lacing, running too fast, too long, too soon, too much hillwork, or in my case injury due to being hit with something. RICE help. But with Kinesiology taping, it may fasten the recovery of this Extensor Tendonitis. Will report back in a few days. #kttape #kttapesunlight #tendonitis #sportsinjury

Hey Foot Fam — ever feel pain on the top of your foot that just won’t quit? 👣 Let’s talk about extensor tendinitis. This happens when the tendons that run along the top of your foot become inflamed due to overuse, pressure, or biomechanical issues — like wearing tight shoes or doing repetitive activities without proper support. ⚠️ Signs to look for: • Aching or sharp pain on the top of the foot • Swelling or tenderness • Pain that gets worse when you’re active Here’s how to help it heal: ✔️ Rest, ice, compression, elevation (RICE) ✔️ Add gentle stretches once the pain starts to ease ✔️ Wear supportive, well-fitting shoes ✔️ And most importantly — see a chiropodist to get to the root of the problem Don’t ignore that top-of-foot pain — it could be your body’s way of saying something’s off. 🦶 Tap the link in our bio to book your foot assessment today! #ExtensorTendinitis #FootPainRelief #FootHealth #TorontoChiropodist #FeetFirstClinic #TopOfFootPain #FootCareTips #Chiropody #CustomOrthotics

The main symptom of foot extensor tendonitis is pain on the top of your foot. The discomfort is usually felt around the midpoint of the dorsal (top) of the foot. You may experience extensor tendonitis in both feet, but often only one foot is affected. ✅ The pain usually builds gradually as use of the injured tendon continues. The tendons may also become weaker. This weakness can affect your ability to move your toes or to push off from your toes when you jump, dance, or run. Running or simply being on your feet for an extended period of time may make the pain worse. ✅ If you experience pain in the top of your foot but it goes away after a day or so of rest, it may be a case of mild inflammation. If the pain lingers for days and is made worse when you are active or wear certain shoes, you should contact your doctor. ✅ Extensor tendonitis in the hand or foot is usually a temporary problem that goes away with rest, ice, and other treatments. Having extensor tendonitis once doesn’t make it more likely that you’ll have the same problem again. You should be aware of what activities and footwear can lead to tendon injuries to help you avoid future injuries. ✅ Now accepting new patients in the Greater Los Angeles Area and also offering mobile services! *All results vary depending on severity of injury* DM to book or check out our website (link in bio)

Releasing Foot extensors, years of stiffness. In this video, I’m explaining to my client how to release her extensor digitorum longus, to improve her plantar flexion. Her extensors were locked in constant extension, mechanically blocking plantar flexion and normal foot function.⬇️ The restrictions weren’t flexibility related — they were connected to adhesions and scar tissue locking the joints and nerve signals. By using Corrective Movement Therapy™’s Tumbler Method™, the extensors are released fiber by fiber. (You can literally hear it as the adhesions break free) Crunch. Crunch. Crunch. That sound isn’t bone. It’s scar tissue losing control of movement freeing damaged muscle fibers. This is what real correction looks like. Not forcing, not stretching. This is Corrective Movement Therapy™ 👉🏽Instead, I release what shouldn’t be there. Solving chronic pain at its source. Fix your fascia, solve your problem™ (Link in my profile)⬇️ 👉🏽 If your foot, ankle, or toes won’t move the way they should: DM “FOOT” to apply for care. #CorrectiveMovementTherapy #TumblerMethod #FootPainRelief

How to tape against Extensor Tendonitis in your leg 🤔 Steps: 1. Prepare long strip 2. Make cuts in longitudinal direction at the center line 3. Apply strip first at your foot 4. Attach rest of the tape gently at the outside of your shin 5. Open up the cuts along the strips 6. Now run to activate the glue What’s Extensor Tendonitis? 🤔 Extensor tendonitis in the leg occurs when the tendons that run along the top of your foot and extend your toes become inflamed, often due to overuse or repetitive strain. This can lead to pain, swelling, and difficulty in moving the foot or toes. How can Kinesiotape help? 🤔 Kinesiotape can help by providing support and reducing strain on the affected tendons. When applied correctly, it can improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and encourage proper alignment, promoting healing while allowing some movement to continue. _____ #tendonitis #tendonitissucks #pain #leg #foot #toe #physiotherapy #workout #treatment #fitness

Pain on the TOP of your foot? I’d first look into this tissues involved as well as history (repetitive use or an injury?) One of the main muscles that lays on top of the foots bones is the extensor digitorum longus. This muscle runs along the front/side part of the shin and travels down the top of the foot into the toes 2-5. It functions to raise ankle and toes UPWARD. So you can imagine, if there was a sprain with the ankle buckling under (inversion sprain) then this tissue would likely be involved. Or repetitive use like running. This requires good toes and ankle range of motion. *there’s certainly nothing wrong with running or sports. However, if these muscles are constantly straining due to LIMITED ankle or toe mobility, there would likely be an issue in the longterm… I treat something like this with Active Release Technique, and likely isometric exercise to start. Heat may assist in improving blood flow + oxygen to the tissues depending on severity.. *other suggestions based on your presentation 😉🤝 Have you had something like this? 🙋‍♂️ I treat the whole body. I’m not just a spine doctor 😜 happy to help! #Footpain #extensordigitorum

A stiff tendon will not stretch and so the muscle attached to that tendon will have more eccentric loading, which can result in tendinopathies. Eccentric exercises have the most evidence of effectiveness in the treatment of tendinopathy. What is eccentric strengthening? An eccentric muscle contraction is when a muscle lengthens under tension, typically as an external force overcomes the muscle's resistance. The muscle gets longer while it’s still generating force. So an example of eccentric strengthening would be slowly lowering a weight during a bicep curl. My best advice to you for your tendon is to keep your joints healthy by maintaining your range of motion and strength. If you get tendinitis, anti-inflammatory meds are helpful in the early phases, but eccentric exercises are what I can offer my patients as a physical therapist. Finally, you might want to consider seeing a physical therapist to make you a specific exercise routine. We prescribe exercise!

↓ How to fix your Tendon Pain __ Tendinitis, or more accurately known these days as Tendinopathy - is one of the most common injuries I see… Whether it’s your Achilles, Patella, Elbow, Shoulser, or Hip - the principles remain ultimately the same (with a slight differences here and there). But most of you are accidentally making it worse. Here’s the truth: ❌ Stretching the tendon? - can add compression. And compression on an irritated tendon can delay healing ❌ Resting completely? - tendons LOVE load. They hate being ignored. The pain may subside, but they decondition. Meaning it takes even less to piss them off again ❌ Random exercises with no structure? - that’s just spinning your wheels with no direction in sight. What tendons ACTUALLY need is progressive & targeted loading, gradually exposing them back to being handle the physical demands you want to place upon them. Not too much. Not too little. The right stimulus at the right time. __ 💻 Really struggling with an injury or performance and want to get back to your best & feeling YOU again?
