Microsoft just made a massive breakthrough that will change technology forever. It’s called the Majorana 1, a quantum chip that’s the first of its kind in quantum computing. And what this thing can do is absolutely insane. Imagine a world where you could invent concrete that could heal itself. Or you could design a phone battery that could be charged one time, and then never run out of juice. That sounds like science fiction, but it’s not. This chip is gonna make it possible with quantum computing. Here’s how quantum computing works (ELI5). Imagine the process to invent the material for an infinite battery was actually a giant maze. If you solve the maze, you invent the formula for a new battery technology. A normal computer would have to try every single pathway in the maze, one at a time. And it could take centuries to find the right path all the way through. But a quantum computer works differently, because it can try every single path in the maze at the same time. This is essentially the difference between a bit and a qubit (the quantum bits that power quantum computers) Now this new Majorana chip has an architecture that can sustain up to 1 million qubits at the same time. That’s 1 million different pathways through the maze, every moment, until it’s solved. And what this means, is pretty incredible. When a scientist goes into a lab to create a material or a design new drug, they won’t need to run experiments. Because this chip will just give them the right answer the very first time. And It’s hard to wrap your head around what this means, but essentially, it’s new medicines, new iPhone screens that can never crack, new metals for planes that fly at supersonic speeds. Everything will change because of quantum computers. And we just entered the Quantum Era. Google’s quantum computer did something that would take our fastest supercomputers 10 SEPTILLION years... in just five minutes! Let me break down how that’s even possible. Our normal computers, work with bits - basically tiny switches that are either ON or OFF. That’s it. Just 1s and 0s. Let’s say you wanted to crack a password with 10 characters. A regular computer would have to try each combination one at a time - that could take years! But a quantum computer? It could try all possible combinations simultaneously. It’s like having millions of computers working in parallel! This is possible because quantum computers use qubits, which can be ON and OFF at the same time. I know, I know. How is that possible? Well, this is where things get REALLY interesting. Researchers use individual atoms, super-cooled to near absolute zero - that’s colder than space itself! At these temperatures, atoms start behaving according to quantum mechanics, where the normal rules of physics just... don’t apply. But here’s the catch - it’s INCREDIBLY difficult to maintain this quantum state. Think about trying to balance a pencil on its tip... while riding a bicycle... during an earthquake. That’s STILL easier than keeping qubits stable! Scientists call this problem “decoherence.” Right now, the best quantum computers have about 100 working qubits. But here’s something wild - a quantum computer with just 300 qubits would be able to perform more simultaneous calculations than there are atoms in the observable universe! And the coolest part? We’re just scratching the surface. #tech #technology #stem #futuretech #futuretechnology

A quantum computer in China has accomplished a groundbreaking feat—solving a problem in just four minutes that would take even the fastest classical supercomputer billions of years. This achievement was made possible by Jiuzhang, a 76-qubit quantum computer prototype that operates using light-based technology. Instead of traditional electronic circuits, Jiuzhang relies on lasers, mirrors, prisms, and photon detectors to process data at unprecedented speeds. Scientists Reverse Time by 1 Second Using a Quantum Computer 🔬⏳ Scientists have reversed time by one second inside a quantum computer. It sounds like science fiction, but it's a real breakthrough. In this video, we break down the incredible experiment where physicists used an IBM quantum processor to "rewind" the state of a particle, effectively rolling time backward. We'll explain how this is possible by exploiting the bizarre rules of quantum mechanics, even though it defies the everyday laws of physics we experience. What does this mean for the future? This isn't about building a time machine, but it opens doors to revolutionary new technologies: 🔬 Quantum Error Correction: Restoring lost information to make quantum computers more stable and powerful. ⏳ The Arrow of Time: Challenging our fundamental understanding of time itself. ⚛️ Future Tech: Paving the way for advancements we can only begin to imagine. We’ll explore how they did it, why you can't use this to go back in time, and what it truly means for the future of science and technology. #quantumcomputer #timetravel #science #physics #ibm #quantummechanics #breakthrough

Computing as we know it uses 1’s and 0’s to complete functions. Quantum computation, however, takes on richer states that go far beyond just a simple 1 or 0. In our latest discovery, our Quantum AI researchers hit a breakthrough that significantly shifts how we understand and operate quantum computing. Just ask Yu Chen, Lead Scientist in Quantum Metrology, who breaks down the bits and bobs of an enhanced quantum computer. At the link in bio, learn more about our recent milestone.
