If you have an ‘S’ curve, this could be an exercise beneficial for your scoliosis! 💪 Derived from the Schroth Method, it uses diagonal traction to open both concave spaces, allowing your spine to elongate, decompress and derotate. When it comes to researching what is best for scoliosis correction, it has to be finding alignment and working with your diaphragm. This important muscle has great power in improving your posture! Schroth is one way to do this, but I’d also recommend somatics (wonderful for beginners) and strength training - especially functional movement that mimics your gait cycle. What I’m doing here is more advanced and not something I’d recommend if you’re unsure of your curve or a beginner. Progress Story 🙌🙌 • • In December last year, Ron suffered a cerebral artery stroke. After the initial recovery, he began working with Body Smart Health+ on the 6th of April. He presented with limited walking ability as well as moderate right side hemiplegia which resulted in significant impairments in strength and coordination. • • Ron has been coming in to work with our experienced team of exercise physiologists and physiotherapists 6 times per week since then. 🙏🙏 • • 2 weeks later and Ron has already seen an improved walking gait, hand eye coordination, balance and general strength and conditioning. In this video, Kay is taking Ron through an exercise looking to improve his hand eye coordination. 🚶‍♂️💪 • • Ron has been an inspiration to us all and is a walking example of the effectiveness of supervised exercise therapy in stroke recovery. 🏃‍♀️🏋️‍♂️@bodysmart_ndis

Why I love this exercise⬇️ 💥Shoulder stability: the shoulder and scapular stabilization required for the offset overhead position is so good for improving pain and instability with reaching and pressing motions 💥Core stability: again, the offset position really challenges the lateral stability of the core and lumbar region, plus the unpredictable movement of the kettlebell adds in a challenge in ALL directions 💥Hip/single leg stability: this exercise is great for hip flexor strengthening while activating the opposite leg glutes. Plus the single leg component challenges the lateral hip (glute med and min) which are so often undertrained. Give ‘er a shot and let us know if you feel how @camgreve.dpt felt at the end 😂
