Step Up vs Step Down: sai davvero quale scegliere? Step Up e Step Down non sono esercizi intercambiabili. Up produce forza, Step Down sviluppa controllo. Entrambi gli esercizi sono validi, ma inserirli correttamente in un programma di allenamento è la chiave per ottenere risultati concreti. Se avverti dolore durante questi esercizi, è un chiaro segnale di una disfunzione biomeccanica. Step-ups are one of the most effective ways to build real-world strength, and they scale really well depending on where you’re starting. If you’re a beginner or coming back from pain, a lower step (like a 6” box) with no weight is a great place to start. Focus on controlled movement, smaller range, and clean alignment, especially keeping the knee tracking in line with the foot. As that starts to feel easier and you’re cruising through higher reps (think 20+), that’s your cue that it’s time to progress. From there, you’ve got options: 👉 Increase step height 👉 Add load 👉 Or both (my preference: height first, then weight) A higher step (like 16”) naturally demands more from your glutes and quads, so you may find you don’t need to consciously “fix” knee position as much, assuming you’ve built that hip strength already. If you’re not maintaining good alignment at any stage, that’s your sign to address hip strength before progressing further. Don’t get too caught up in the exact step height or weight being used here, the principle is what matters: Start simple → master control → increase demand gradually. If step-ups aren’t already in your program, they’re worth adding. Not required at all, any sturdy step or bench works, but if you’re looking for the exact equipment I’m using, it’s linked in my bio. #physicaltherapist #lowerbodystrength #legstrength #beginnerexercise #stepups

𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 — 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐓𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 Not all step downs are created equal. Different styles = different gains👇🏼 1️⃣ Patrick Step-Down Heel stays flat on the floor. Great for targeting the lower quads, stabilising the knee, and improving ankle range of motion. 2️⃣ Poliquin Step-Down Heel elevated with assistance. Focuses on quad strength + knee joint support. 3️⃣ Peterson Step-Down The most advanced. Emphasises balance and requires lifting the heel without assistance. 4️⃣ Backwards Step-Down Light toe tap behind you. Fires up glutes, quads, hamstrings and your core for balance. 5️⃣ Lateral Step-Down Step to the side, keeping hips level. Boosts knee and hip stability, plus strengthens hip abductors. 6️⃣ Curtsy Step-Down Add a diagonal reach behind. Glute stretch + next level balance and coordination. Pick the variation that supports your goals OR use them all 🔥 . . #fightingfitmanchester #legday #kneestrength #functionaltraining #mobilitytraining #stepdowns #movementquality

😣 Is it Difficult going down stairs ? Or you feel fear or lack of confidence, not able to control your body weight with one leg while stepping down ? ❌ Going down stairs can be hard if you don't have strong muscles to support your knees. ✅ You need strong lower legs and good control over your body weight. 😣 Without this control, you may feel pain, stiffness, fear, and lack confidence in your legs. ❤️ Practicing these exercises can help you regain control and make it easier to go down stairs. 👉🏻 You can start with 5 to 10 reps and slowly build up to 20 reps. #fisioterapia #fisiohelp #integrafisioterapia #exercicio #stepdown

Down the stairs with ease ☝🏽 When going down the stairs you need single leg control. You basically are slowing lowering your bodyweight on one leg as you go down each step ⤵️ You need to be comfortable putting almost full bodyweight through one leg with a bent knee 🦵🏽 This exercise can be one way to begin mastering this skill ✅ The weight is 100% optional and I encourage to master WITHOUT weight first. Use railing support if you need to as this movement can also challenge balance ⚠️ 5-8 repetitions may be a good place to start on each side. If this doesn’t feel good right now and causes significant pain- that’s okay! There are many different ways to modify. In the membership, Adventurers for Life, you’ll work up to be able to climb up and down stairs with ease along with mastering walking, squats and getting up from the floor 👏🏼 The beauty of it is you’ll start at the place that matches your current fitness level and work from there. Beginner? No problem we’ve got you covered. A little more advanced? We’ve got you covered too 😍 Head to https://keeptheadventurealive.com/start or click the link in my profile to learn more! ✅ #stairclimbing #downstairs #stairexercise #kneepain #kneearthritis #kneeosteoarthritis #physicaltherapist #physicaltherapy #kneeexercises Not medical advice.
