Why I like it • Full-body control • Ankle, hip, and thoracic mobility • Core engagement from start to finish • Real-world strength getting up and down off the ground How to do it 1. Sit back to the floor with control 2. Rock onto your upper back (no neck pressure) 3. Use momentum + core to roll forward 4. Stick the landing in a squat and stand tall Coach cues • Stay tight through the core • Knees track over toes • Smooth, controlled roll • Own the stand up Progressions / regressions • Regression: Use hands or pause at the bottom • Progression: Add load or tempo control

If your deck squat falls apart when you try to stand up, this will fix it. Most people can roll back. But they lose position trying to come forward. Use a light kettlebell as a counterbalance. As you come up, press it slightly forward. That shift makes it much easier to stand. Train it properly: 3–5 deck squats�(use the kettlebell to assist) 5 clean + press each side 6–8 rows each side 12 swings Rest 60–90 seconds�Repeat for 4–5 rounds Start light. Use less assistance as your control improves. Save and follow for more.

Getting up and down off the ground, while distributing your weight properly. 2️⃣ Partial Assisted Deck Squat - Begin to focus on learning to activate the core to pull you up off the floor versus your upper body. 3️⃣ Deck Squat - Squeeze the glutes as your feet get under you and push through the floor. 4️⃣ Low Impact Weighted Deck Squat - This can be used to help build strength in the movement, allowing you to build towards a single leg deck squat. It can also be used as an alternative if you can’t jump. 5️⃣ Weighted Deck Squat - Make sure to test with a low weight first to ensure you don’t hurt yourself on the plyometric parts of the movement. It should be a weight you can hold comfortably without fatigue. 6️⃣ Single Leg Low Impact Deck Squat - Begin to learn the mechanics of the single leg deck squat without getting burnt out by the plyometric hop on one foot. 7️⃣ Single Leg Deck Squat - DO NOT SACRIFICE alignment to look fancy. There are several variations you can explore here. If performing with the pullover, make sure to keep that core engaged and lower back pressed into the ground as the bell goes overhead. Use the momentum on the way up to get back into that deep squat, then pressing down through those feet to stand.
