This will help you bias the lower lats (which there aren’t a lot of movements that can do so other than a Keenan flap) while also reducing the likelihood of excessive biceps and forearms activation.

For next-level pull-ups and muscle-ups, a semi-false grip (overgrip) is very helpful. It feels unnatural at first and, for many, may feel straining on the wrist. Just as with increasing strength, you should build up to this grip gradually, by shifting your hand over little by little each week and practicing easy movements with the full over-grip, such as short-duration dead-hangs and Australian rows. But there’s one hugely important mechanical tip to make the over grip work: you should combine it with external rotation of the scapula, which, in layman’s terms, means turning your elbows inward as if you were trying to break the bar in front of your body. That takes pressure off the wrists and puts you in the most powerful pulling position. #pullups #muscleups #gripstrength #calisthenics

Give this one a share if you’re like me and you enjoy the non-fancy but important tips to help you NAIL Pull-Ups 😁 Hand placement is more important than we think for a few reasons: We want to grow our grip strength coz it’s NEVER easy to hold our entire bodyweight on a bar. But we also want to try to avoid injury as much as we can. It’s super common to develop elbow pain when learning pull ups, so getting your hand placement right is a big deal. Check you’re doing this right next time your practice your hangs or drills.
