❌Stop doing smith machine rows like this! . ❗️Unfortunately most smith machines do not allow you to set the pins lower, this limits our range of motion for a lot of exercises, including the bent over row. . ❗️Grab yourself a platform and place it under the bar, that’s step one. Secondly, the reason for this is to allow your shoulder blades to fully protract and get the deep searing stretch (this is what research is suggesting is our biggest opportunity for stimulus for muscle growth). . 👉It’s important to have your hips hinged back and your core super braced (as if someone is about to punch you in the stomach), secondly lock that position in throughout the duration of your set. This will keep you super stable amd prevent low back pain. . 👉Next you would want to initiate the movement by retracting your shoulder blades and pulling the bar up to your chest (if overhand and elbows are flared as I demonstrate), this will bias more upper back muscles like rhomboids, traps.. whereas an underhand grip would bias more lats, ensuring you’re driving the bar to your stomach and elbows to your hips. . 👀 Watch as I demonstrate and show you how to execute this exercise correctly, this can also apply to barbell rows. . 🙏If this was helpful, share with a friend who’s been struggling or would benefit from it! . #backday #backworkout #backworkouts #barbellrow #barbellrowtutorial #barbellrows #exercisetips #exercise #strength #strengthtraining #smithmachinerows #trainer #trainertips
