STRICT PULL-UP DRILLS 💪🏽 . Strict Pull-Ups require a significant amount of upper body strength. Give these exercises a try to work towards getting your first or improving the ones you already have 😊 . EXERCISES: 1. SCAP PULL-UPS - this activates our scapular muscles, which gives us a stable base to utilize the rest of our upper body muscles correctly 2. TOP OF PULL-UP HOLD - hold as long as you can; accumulating 1-2 min is a great goal 3. SLOW ECCENTRIC LOWER - eccentric strength is a great tool for strength development; lower as slowly as possible (shoot for 5-10+ sec for 8-10 repetitions) 4. BANDED PULL-UPS - start with as many bands as you need and slowly reduce as it gets easier. Accumulate 30-50 repetitions 3. JUMPING PULL-UPS - goal is to jump as little as needed to complete the rep. Want to double your strict pull-ups? Here’s how. The key is building volume - total reps matter more than single max sets. The protocol: Max strict pull-ups, then immediately max banded pull-ups. That’s one set. Rest 2 minutes. Repeat for 4-6 sets. Why this works: Strict pull-ups build strength. Banded pull-ups build volume and endurance. Together, they increase your total weekly reps without destroying your recovery. Run this 2-3x per week. In 4-6 weeks, test your max again. You’ll be shocked. Making your pull-ups feel easier: 🫵🏻 squeeze the bar through the outer side of your palm and little fingers as if you’re trying to *snap* or bend the bar in half over your head 😮‍💨 then drive your elbow down and back, not down and in front of the body. this will make sure you’re using your back to do the work rather than just pulling through your arms ☝🏼 think about pulling the bar to you (like a lat pull down) instead of hauling yourself up to the bar. Trick the brain into thinking it’s easier than it is! Train with me 🔗 #gym #GymTok #pullups #pullup #gymtips
